The College Engage Difference

We support students in every academic discipline by using the tools of personal storytelling to guide them through the application process. We also specialize in working with theater, creative writing, and film students—whether they plan to major in one of these areas or simply continue their artistic journeys in college or graduate school.

At College Engage, you only pay for what you need. During an initial assessment, we determine together which resources are right for you. Services are billed by session or in bundles according to your needs. Our Services page gives you a sense of possible consulting pathways, but every student is unique.

For arts students, Sarah provides first-hand knowledge of various BA and BFA programs across the country. Because of her academic training and years in higher ed, she has a deep understanding of different programs, departments, and courses. And because of her professional theater experience and networks, she can help students start imagining careers in and beyond the arts. In addition, she has personal insight into practice-based MFA programs and research-based PhD programs, and she has supported students applying to competitive graduate schools for over a decade.

Sarah is also a playwright and essayist. More specifically, she writes personal essays and solo performances professionally. She loves mentoring students on their writing, and she’s done it for 25 years. She knows how to bring creativity and imagination into the essay-writing process, and she shows students how to give life to their language and tell their stories in unique and engaging ways.

By working with Sarah, you will also benefit from the experience of a former professor with close student relationships and insider knowledge about how young people feel and learn once they actually arrive on campus. This knowledge comes from years of mentoring real college students at a range of academic institutions, from small liberal arts schools to state flagships to highly selective colleges.

As a faculty member, Sarah was also able to work closely with staff in admissions, financial aid, academic advising, and study abroad. She knows how confusing it can be to navigate university systems, and she believes it’s her responsibility to share what she’s learned with students and families.
